Free or Reduced Cost Training Programs

Open job trainings can be found online or through local career centers. Once you have found a training that interests you, you can contact a job coach or the provider to learn more.

Real Jobs RI Programs are run by partnerships consisting of employers and training providers and are completely free to participants. Approximately 80% of Real Jobs trainees successfully complete training and are placed into related employment.

WIOA Eligible Training Provider Programs (ETPL) are available to eligible underemployed Rhode Islanders at no cost or at a reduced cost. You will need to meet with a Job Coach either online or at a DLT Career Center to determine your eligibility for an Individual Training Account of up to $15,000 to cover the cost of the ETPL program you wish to enroll in.

Biotech Bootcamp

The RI Biotech Boot Camp provides a solution to meet the industry's immediate need for a skilled workforce. This program offers a win-win-win scenario: employers gain qualified employees, graduates secure interview opportunities for new jobs, and the state benefits from a sustainable workforce and expanded job growth.

20-month program in which students master the craft and fundamentals of restoring, building, and finishing classic wooden yachts. Students graduating from the program will have the skills to find entry to mid-level positions in restoration boatyards or other marine-related businesses.

Amos House's Workforce Essential Skills program provides education, training, and certification to prepare adults for employment in Culinary Arts, Building Trades, Customer Service, CDL/Trucking & Manufacturing.

Building & Property Trades Technician

Hands-On Training Diploma Program. 30 week / 900 hour. Certifications available are OSHA10, Ladder Safety. Students train on basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, exterior finish and roofing, interior finish with sheetrock installation, flooring, trim, green technology, and HVAC troubleshooting. Students participate in a 120 internship (often results in a job offer).

Building Green Futures (Youth)

Building Green Futures is an apprenticeship readiness program where young adults gain "employability skills" through exposure to career paths in green and plant-based industries via service learning. Upon graduation, participants can either seek employment in these industries or participate in Building Futures' construction pre-apprenticeship program.

CDL Class A Training Program

Commercial Driver's License Class A: At International CDL student's will be introduced to truck driving. Student's will spend time learning information needed to pass the State CDL permit test, Student's will work with state certified instructors to become familiar with RI state required maneuvers, as well as city and highway driving. This is not a Pell Grant eligible program.
