Legal Holidays

Per RI General Law 25-3, the following are legal holidays in Rhode Island:

  • New Year's Day - January 1
  • Memorial Day - Last Monday in May
  • Juneteenth - June 19th (in effect January 1, 2024)
  • Independence Day - July 4
  • Victory Day - 2nd Monday in August
  • Labor Day - 1st Monday in September
  • Columbus Day - 2nd Monday in October
  • Veterans Day - November 11
  • Thanksgiving Day - 4th Thursday in November
  • Christmas Day - December 25

Work performed by employees on Sundays and holidays must be paid for at least one and one-half (1½) times the normal rate of pay for the work performed.
