Workers' Compensation Latest Updates Maximum Compensation Rate Increase Information Letter 24-04 Beginning on January 1, 2024, independent contractors are required to file an annual registration for the duration of their relationship with each entity. Effective January 1st 2022 for new injuries, intermediate spendable base wage (SBW) calculations will be discontinued; the compensation rate will equal 62% of the claimant’s average weekly wage. Please see Information Letter 21-04 for additional information. The Education Unit has also produced a video webinar with step-by-step guidance. The Workers' Compensation Division monitors the workers' compensation system, ensuring that appropriate documents are filed to protect injured workers and employers, that claims are paid correctly, that all required employers have insurance coverage, and that insurance carriers report policy information to the Division. The Division also compiles information about injuries and costs, provides educational services, and report fraud. The Robert F. Arrigan Rehabilitation Center provides physical, psychological and vocational rehabilitation services for injured workers.
