State of Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training

The Rhode Island Makers Training Program is a free, five-week, in-person welding training program for individuals interested in careers in manufacturing and commercial welding. No prior experience is required.

Dates: September 8–October 9, 2026
Registration Deadline: Aug, 31, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Location: UA Local 51, 11 Hemingway Dr., Riverside, RI 02915
Cost: Free
Total Training: 190 hours

Participants will receive hands-on welding training, work readiness instruction, a Certificate of Completion from Local 51, and OSHA-10 Certification. Participants should be prepared for physical, hands-on work in warm or hot environments and must use required protective equipment.
