Description

The PCA Training Program is an entry-level training into the medical field. The target population is for 60% of participants to identify with having an intellectual disability, underserved communities and then individuals with all different abilities. The training is held two days weekly for three hours each day, for 10 weeks. Day one of the week is instruction, and day two is the practice of the learned hands-on skills. The participants will then complete up to a 10-hour paid internship, with the potential of being hired at the end. Participants will gain experience in all aspects of becoming a caregiver, from mobility help, medication knowledge, and become CPR/AED/FIRST AID certified with the American Heart Association.  The participants will leave the training with an active resume and learned job-related skills that set them apart from others who did not participate.

This program opportunity is organized by the Rise2Work led by Community Provider Network of Rhode Island.
