EKG Training Program

Newport Community School (NCS) and the Aquidneck Island Adult Learning Center (AIALC) are proud to offer EKG Technician training! This program serves as an introductory pathway to the healthcare field, potentially leading to additional certifications like CNA. Participants complete a minimum of 60 hours of classroom instruction, along with 25 hours dedicated to soft skills, digital literacy, and financial literacy.

The training prepares graduates to work effectively in diverse healthcare settings, including hospitals, doctor's offices, and clinics. It focuses on:

• Proper lead placement
• Equipment maintenance
• Analyzing rhythm strips

To achieve these skills, the curriculum combines lectures with hands-on training in:

• Cardiac anatomy
• The circulatory system
• Arrhythmias
• Pharmacology
• HIPAA
• Electronic health records (EHR)
• Biometrics

This 12-week program is designed for a cohort of 12 participants from Aquidneck Island.
