Description

This course consists of lectures and hands-on lab sessions to prepare students for work as an EMT/ambulance attendant. Topics include Infection Control, Anatomy & Physiology, CPR, Vital Signs, Legal Issues, Communication and Documentation, Airway Management, Medication Administration, Bleeding and Shock Care, Fracture Care and Splinting, Rescue and Extrication, Triage, Medical Emergencies (chest pain, breathing difficulty, allergic reactions, poisonings and overdoses, obstetrics, pediatrics), Major Incidents, WMDs, Ambulance Operations, Environmental Emergencies, and Behavioral Emergencies. Students also perform an internship at a hospital emergency department or 911 rescue service. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to sit for the NREMT Examination followed by RI State Licensure. Program length 12 weeks of didactic and practical hands-on training along with Hospital ER observation time and ambulance ride along for observation.

**You will need to meet with a Job Coach either online or at a DLT Career Center to determine your eligibility for an Individual Training Account of up to $15,000 to cover the cost of the ETPL program you wish to enroll in.**
