Description

The twelve-week Warehouse Training Program provides all the entry-level and career advancement skills needed to succeed in the warehouse field. The enhanced WTP includes classroom safety trainings including; Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Back Safety, Loading Dock and Warehouse Safety and a Hazard Perception Challenge, OSHA General Industry 10-hour course, Forklift Operator Safety class and certification, and training on four customized software programs and material handling. This is in addition to shipping processes which includes pallet jack operation, safety scale operation, hand took usage, and proper wrapping. Students will also learn inventory control, receiving, disassembly, processing and testing of recycled materials. The WTP is designed to provide job seekers with "hands-on" training; therefore all students will be working in Goodwill's warehouse to put into practice the skills and knowledge they have acquired. As part of this process each student will be compensated for their time worked. Classroom hours will not be paid but students must participate in classroom activities in order to continue in the program. Graduates will work directly with an Employment Specialist who will help the individual through Job Development, Placement and Retention Services.
