Description:The Program has 4 phases: 1) General Medical Studies: Infection Control, Basic Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, CPR, 1st Aid, Vital signs, Legal issues, Communication, interviewing techniques, & professional etiquette. 2) Phlebotomy Core Curriculum, students learn about the phlebotomy profession, how to obtain blood & non-blood samples, and laboratory procedures as well as performing blood draws on manikins and human patients'. 3) Clinical rotation/internship (40hrs/wk x 2wks) Students receive patients, review tests ordered, obtain samples, and perform laboratory procedures on the specimens. 4)Upon completion of the didactic, tactical and clinical portions, students sit for the National Healthcare Association Certification Examination. Career training begins on day one and our classroom is treated like the workplace where students are evaluated on professionalism, teamwork, adaptation to change, etc. Program length 14 weeks. 12 weeks didactic and practical training followed by a 2 week clinical rotation at a hospital or lab.
