Description:The program consists of 5 phases; 1) General Medical Studies: students receive training in Infection Control, Basic Human Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, CPR, 1st Aid, Legal issues, Communication, & Documentation. 2) EKG Core Curriculum portion: students learn about the EKG Technician profession, how to obtain and interpret 12-Lead EKGs, how to perform stress testing, and the use of holter monitoring. All work is done on live human 'patients'. 3) Phlebotomy Core Curriculum: students learn about the phlebotomy profession, how to obtain blood & non-blood samples, and laboratory procedures as well as performing blood draws on manikins and human patients. 4) The Clinical / Externship session prepares students for work in a hospital/clinic environment. 5) Upon completion of the didactic, practical & clinical phases, students sit for the National Healthcareer Association Certification Examination which is the course ending final.
